We’re proud to confirm that the Quebec High School Outdoor Ed Program has recently expanded to become a school-wide movement to encourage our students to connect with their peers and nature through a wide variety of outdoor trips and experiences over their five years at QHS.
For the past 9 years, QHS has operated an Outdoor Education program that consists of 2 teachers guiding 12 secondary 4 and 5 students on five expedition-based outings throughout the school year.
Due to its growing popularity and extremely high demand, Lead-Guide teachers Marne Bourbonnais, Fannie Marsh and Derek Chan have revamped and expanded the program school wide to include ALL QHS students. We are grateful for the generous support of the Quebec High School Alumni Foundation, which has enabled us to advance this initiative while upholding our commitment to providing accessible outdoor education for all participants.
We’re confident that this endeavor will further encourage students to connect with their peers and nature through a wide variety of outdoor trips and experiences over their five years at QHS. By doing so, our goal is to foster positive staff-student relationships, broaden our students' horizons to enjoy the great outdoors, disconnect from technology and social media, promote a healthy and active lifestyle, and introduce our students to new sports and activities.
